My son is on accuntane and
is considering lazer resurfacing as
recommended by his doctor. As a result of what I
read, I won't encourage or pay for such
treatments. Many of my youthful acne scars
disappeared in my early 20's. I found that the
body has a way of healing itself. I also learned
that a good diet and drinking lots of water
helps rid the body of toxins. Stay away from
soda's, oily foods, and fast food. Eat lots of
yellow vegetables and you will notice your body
healing it self. P.S. Get enough sleep and stay
away from stress

Im almost 40 and have had
to deal with the hopeless feeling that comes
with acne scars my whole adult life. What
did i do to deserve this, ive felt ugly and
ashamed. And who are you gonna talk to, you
look around and you dont see anyone whose
face looks like your.
Finally as an adult i had the money to do
something and after talking and seeing a few
dermatologists i thought i wanted the Co2
lasering. I went to who i was told was one
of the better Co2 doctors in the south. But
after researching it online more i was
afraid of the aftercare. I talked to another
doctor who mentioned the best thing on the
market at the time was the Fraxel laser, i
immediately left his office and started
checking online for fraxel doctors in the
south.
The closest one to me was Austin TX, about
an 8 hour drive from where i live. Lucky for
me I would come to find that this guy is
good. Ive had 4 treatments at $3300. and can
go back as often as i want for a treatment
and only pay $600. He says it takes about 4
months for the collogen to grow and expand,
really start to fill in the scars and smooth
your face. After the numbing and gel
application the treatment itself takes about
10 minutes and is a little painful only
while the laser is passing on your face.
your face is a little swollen and red for
3-5 days but thats nothing compared to the
results. And the next day after the
procedure you wake and your face is red and
some swollen but MY GOD its absolutely
smooth, no scars for the first time in i
cant remember when. For about 20 minutes or
so i just stare into the mirror and THANK
GOD for finally putting some piece into my
heart. And it can clear the little lines or
small imperfections you have also. I have
started to see a noticeable improvement in
my skins appearance, some scars are
smoothing out and i just had my 4th session
last month and will begin again in February
06.
I am so excited and know personally after
years of staring in mirrors at every angle
looking at my scars or not standing under or in
front of lights to avoid the light casting
shadows on my scars this has given me some hope.
I intend to have treatments once every other
month this year. ill probably continue to have
them for years to come
jin, wis
dang, i was really
considering laser treatment too, but after
all these stories.. i think ill pass. i too
have scars and its really discouraging me at
this moment. im not really sure if there is
anything out there that will help much. but
if there is, please do let me know

My heart goes out to all
of you who are suffering from scars. I have
spent many years trying to hide my face
because I feel so disfigured from my scars.
I just started to see a wonderful
dermatologist, who is working with me to get
me where I want to be. I have had 4 parasian
peels and I am amazed at what is happening
with my face. Small scars are smoothing out,
and my overall texture is better, less oily,
my face is so smooth. We are thinking of
trying the fraxel laser. I just want to say
to everyone who is feeling discouraged about
your appearance, Please hang in there, and
find a really good dermatologist. Be patient
and keep your chin up. With all the new
technology coming out there is hope for us.

I hate to disagree with
Craig but I wouldnt suggest large amounts of
acidophilus yogot. Acidophilus yogot is not
recommended for people who have been
diagnosed with excessive stomach bacteria
but is good to aid digestion and help with
issues like IBS. Its used to help prevent
bad bacteria from growing and multiplying.
Hence it is good for bacteria that are in
the skin and cause acne. But in large
amounts like antibiotics it can also kill
healthy bacteria as well. And also aid in
the creation of "super power" bacteria,
another reason why anti-biotics and
anti-bacterial soap are thought of to be
harmful. Just a little note.

Hi all....im 18 and have
recently started using minocycline tablets
as well as 'Duac' once daily cream to treat
my acne. Has anyone ever used it before? and
if they have did they notice any
improvements? My face is currently so dry
from it that i can barely smile. My face
feels like the skin of a 90 year old and im
worried that when i laugh or smile that im
gonna get more scars in stretch scars. A few
have started to appear and its making me
even more depressed. Can anyone help with
tips or ideas? Please reply....Thanks

It's nice to have found
this website and to read everyone's
experiences with their acne and scar
treatment. I had a CO2 lasert treatment done
about 2 years ago. It cost me about $3,000
and it took my skin was absolutely raw for
about 1 1/2 weeks (seeping pus, etc.). It
took about 2-3 months for the redness to
finally subside. Although my skin did appear
more smooth initially, over time, I'm not
sure how much improvement I've experienced.
At best, I would say 25%. Now I am getting
several treatments for my acne: Blu U laser
treatment (2x a week for 4 weeks and helps
your body to kill P.acne bacteria). This
procedure is $900. Today, I just got a "microlaser
peel." Dr. went 15 microns and I have to put
aquaphor on my face for 3 days. Feels like a
sunburn but I have "gook" all over my face
and cost me $1,200. Supposedly, this too is
expected to stimulate collagen. In a few
weeks, I'll be getting a broad-band laser to
shrink the sebaceous glands. This procedure
will cost another $900. I really want my
skin to be smooth and I think everyone's
skin reacts differently to these procedures.
Some people have positive experiences, some
minimal, and for some, it is not a good
decision at all. At 33 years old, the acne
scarring has been difficult for me. I try to
hide my face with my hair and don't like
people looking at me (I feel like Violet in
the Incredibles). I guess you could say that
I've tried pretty much everything for my
acne and have spent so much money on various
procedures and treatments and I'm still
trying to find ways to improve my skin! Now
that Zeno is out, I've heard some good
things about it. Might be a worthwhile
investment. Still searching...I feel for all
of you reading and posting answers about
your skin. Having acne since I was 10 years
old - I've been dealing with this problem
for 23 years - way too long!
nunz,

Try ProActiv. Acne runs
in my family, and I have had it since my
early teens. (I am now in my early 30's.) I
tried over the counter facial products, but
none of them worked. Finally I tried
ProActiv. At that point I had severe acne,
with huge red mounds of acne one on top of
the other. It covered the lower part of my
face like a clown smile: next to my mouth
and down around my chin. Also my forehead.
After using ProActiv steadily, twice a day,
I began seeing results after four weeks. Six
months later my skin is smooth except for
the occasional flare-up of a single
whitehead, which quickly goes away.
I do have some brownish pigmentation left
(little spots from where the old acne was).
They have faded a little but are still
there. I've heard conflicting advice on how
to get rid of them -- laser, resurfacing,
dermabrasion, etc. -- and I certainly don't
want to make them worse!

I had scarring all over
my face. One year ago, I started a regimen
of 6 treatments of Fraxel laser. The last
one I insisted on because I was seeing the
benefit. My skin, now, is terrific. I think
most people don't know I ever had a severe
problem.
I paid about $800 a session for Fraxel(with
buy 4 get 1 free). Money was not the concern
for me, it was to discriminate between all
the laser options. I am confident about my
choice. But find a great doctor who knows to
put it on the right power setting.

Thank you Sleepy! After
read your message at this board on 11/15/05,
I ordered the New You Skin care package, and
yesterday, is the first time I tried this
product. Only one time use, I can feel a
little bit result on my oily and scarring
face. Sleepy, thank you again, for your
information, it is really help me a lot!

Avery, Smithboro, Il
My name is Terence Avery,
I have a lot in common with several people
who have submitted testimonies at this
website. I have several ideas and
experiences with which i would like to
share.
Unfortunately, my whole pre-adult and adult
life I have had oily skin, which has caused
moderate to severe acne on and off times of
my life. When I was 18-22 my answer was
proactiv which prevented deep pimples and
whiteheads, and even cleared up skin for
about a year and a half but then got bad
again and kept my face red and and
eventually my face developed a sensitivity
to where I could no longer use the product.
Good, but temporary!!
I then tried Accutane and it dried my face
out but caused bad flaking and peeling which
then caused deeper scars, after I stoped
using. Bad move!
Then to fix scars I got 7 microderm
abrasions, bigger mistake, actually made
small scars deeper and worse. I was
miserable, got divorced and became super
depressed! Bad Move!
Then as a last ditched effort I seeked out
laser resurfacing at Dr. Lees office in
Decatur Illinois. The name of the office is
Lee Institute of Skin/Laser. # is
217-877-7171. Anyway I consulted with Dr.
Lee and asked him to help out and make my
miserable life get better, well 2 and a half
years later I am very happy. I go out again,
I am dating, my self esteem is really good.
Here is what I recomend and ehat he did. I
have had four laser resurfacing treatments
the first one took actually 4 months to heel
but I saw results about 35 percent better
and 1000 in the whole, second treatment my
scars got up to about 50 percent better and
it took about 3 and half months to heel.
third treatment took 3 months and 70 percent
better. fourth treatment I am 5 months into
and it looks really good. I am a male and I
dont have to try and use makeup or things to
hide my scars and acne. I am getting one
more treatment in a few months to be at
about 95/ perfect, which will be awesome.
The laser skin surfacing is midly painfull
when undergoing treatment and the first day
after it is sore, but it gets better. Great
move. allow i have spent 2500 plus it is
worth my life happier and better and it is
permanent.
Now this is my secret that compliments the
laser treatments.
ZITHROMAX, have your derm prescribe, I take
5 days on 5 days off permantly, and it is
awesome.
Sincerely,
Terence Avery
