POPPING PIMPLES - IS IT RIGHT OR SHOULD YOU AVOID DOING IT?

Ideally, you should avoid popping pimples - the reason is simple, whenever you do so, you raise the chances of a skin infection or a permanent acne scar. Moreover, popping pimples might increase the spread of infection to nearby skin thus leading to even more pimples on your face.

Albiet, if you dont have the patience to wait till the time that ugly pimple erupts itself and clears from your skin, then you can read this article to know a safer method of popping pimples.

But please note that this article tells you about popping only those pimples which have white top and liquid pus beneath. Follow the following steps:

1) Wash and clean your hands properly. Also take care that your nails are clean. First of all, avoid you hands or nails touching the pimple at all. However if they do, then you need to make sure that they are clean enough to avoid infections.

2) Use an anti bacterial cleansing agent to clean the skin nearby the pimple. This is important because once you pop the pimple, you will be allowing bacteria to enter inside through that break in the skin created by popping the pimple. If you have cleansed the nearby skin properly apriori, then the chance of such a thing happening will be very less.

3)Try to remove the dead cells on the skin near the pimple by gently rubbing a cloth which has some acne treatment solution applied on it. This solution will help clear dead cells.

Now the way to pop the pimple:

Locate the central point of the pimple. Place the tips of your fingers on both sides. Instead of pressing your fingers towards each other, instead try to pull the skin apart in opposite directions from both sides. The skin will gently pull apart and let the pus flow out. Rub the nearby skin gently so that the remaining pus left inside also flows out completely. Be careful as to not touch the pimple directly - do so around the nearby skin.

This entire process should be done very gently and hence there will not be any bleeding too - unless you have applied a lot of force.

Now, clean that part of the skin with an anti-bacterial or anti-septic solution so that there is no scope for bacteria to enter the skin opening due to pimple popping.

Finally, apply some acne treatment cream over the popped pimple itself so that it can clean any left over bacteria on that spot.

Care to be taken while popping pimples:

Above method should be used only for white-head pimples. Also, if the pimples are highly resistent, then it may not work well. In such a case you may need to use more sophisticated methods or consult your skin specialist.

More importantly, one should avoid pimple popping. Let the pimples dry out and clear on their own. Several acne treatment solutions are available that can help clear your pimples quickly and less painfully.

In case you have acne cysts or hard pimples, do not try to pop them by yourself at all. You need medical help in such cases.
